Books for Mother's Day + Book Give Away

I like to think of Mother’s Day as an opportunity to reflect on our roles as mothers.

From the day our first born arrived, I have paused again and again humbled by the instinctual
wisdom, joy and self-assurance my Mother gifted us through by the person she is and how these were qualities that she, too, had been gifted with (and made her own) by her own mother and her Grandmother; all women who I feel have been influencers and shapers of the mother I am today.

On the other hand, from the moment I knew I was expecting, there was a profound difference between our generations. My pregnancy was accompanied by books:  What to Expect When You're Expecting, a Swedish copy of Lennart Nilson's A Child is Born, and the internet.

Each of us had books of our generation and continue to be bound through a love of reading, thought, language, one another, and curiosity --- making books feel like a natural Mother's Day Gift.

My experience as a mother is given yet another dimension by my life abroad and my ultra international husband which shape our family (but, that's really a post for another day) yet, books are ever consistent and available wherever you live! I think it's a wonderful time to be a Mom. There are so many amazing things we have available to us now and ways to create everyday wonder, joy connection and creativity in a house and imparting in a family and raising the next generation (and ourselves!)

Read further to see how you can win these books. We are giving away a copy of each of the following:

The Artful Year from The Artful Parent // Playful from Mer Mag // Tinkerlab from Tinkerlab // 150 Screen Free Activities for Kid from Fun at Home with Kids // Happy Handmade (ebook) from MollyMoo

If you haven't joined me with my fellow Rockin Art Moms in our Macaroni Challenge, it's not too late to join us and enter.   We are enjoying the creations you are sharing with us so much that we've decided to extending the #themacaronichallenge until May 10 .

More on books:
There are so many wonderful books. In addition to those above, there are 2 particular books on my own personal current short list: 1. a book for me and a great gift 2. a book for a family.

1. A book for me:The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing
Is there anyone else feeling this overwhelming Spring urge to purge the house of clutter and simplify? I see this title recommended all over and would love a copy for Mother's Day.

A book for the familyWonder.
We've just finished reading this book and it is a thing of wonder.  Although it's been a NYTimes Best Seller list for over a year, we hadn't read it until recently. It isn't yet translationed to Swedish or French and, as far as I'm concerned, it can't get here fast enough! I'm itching to talk about it by the swings with others and for kids to have the opportunity, here, to have it in their classrooms, as well.
It's voice and message are absolutely beautiful.

It's always wonderful to meet you here.  Again, I'd love to see what you do with Macaroni and for you to have the chance to win the book in the give away. Click here for more details.
