A blustery Valborg, has brought in a beautiful 1st of May. Above is my first May bouquet! It's time pull our mini vases out from storage. Are you ready?
Will you be surprising anyone with May Baskets or received some yourself? In Sweden the day is a Labour Day. This translates into a day off and I've never received a May Basket or seen anyone dance around a May Pole but, people are definitely outside and welcoming Spring.
In France, too, it is a Labour Day; however, it's also called La Fête du Muguet or "Lily of the Valley Day which dates back to the 1500's and were originally a token of good luck" Isn't that pretty? I hope that our Wild Strawberries leave room for our usual Lily of the Valleys to bloom soon. Oh, I am just loving "Flower holidays!" Are there other "flower holidays" that I don't know about? I'd love to hear about yours!
Today is our last day of Spring break and we're going to make it a great one. I hope you are, too!
